Mendel Science Center
Villanova's Mendel Science Center is named after Gregor Johann Mendel—a 19th century Augustinian friar, teacher, scientist and mathematician—who established two principles of heredity. The building is home to research facilities serving student-researchers in the fields of astronomy and astrophysics, biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental science, mathematics and statistics, and physics. The Center houses classrooms, lecture halls, department offices and teaching laboratories.
A sculpture of Gregor Mendel adorns the Mendel Plaza at the east entrance to the Center.
