Maghan Keita, PhD
Associate Professor History
Maghan Keita, PhD, has spent more than 20 years teaching at Villanova’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and holds a PhD in African studies from Howard University. His research includes African political, economic and intellectual history; issues of race, class and gender; and cultural criticism. Dr. Keita is the director of the Institute for Global Interdisciplinary Studies (IGIS), an academic unit, which prepares students to be responsible global citizens through rigorous coursework, seminars and study abroad opportunities. He works closely with IGIS students who are interested in research or fellowship opportunities. IGIS works in conjunction with the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowship to identify national and international opportunities for students.
